CMA Masterclass Festival 2022
A busy start to our Masterclass Festival today, with four jam-packed sessions from our woodwind, voice, string and piano departments! Head of School Grace Liu began with a masterclass for our younger flautists – working on the repertoire, scales and technique needed for early exams. Guests Catrin Johnsson and Rachel Fuller from the University of Auckland then ran a voice workshop for members of our Chiron Choirs programme, giving some of them their first taste of singing solo with piano. Thanks also to Catrin’s student Larissa, for joining our students and demonstrating where there journey may lead!
In the afternoon, our advanced violin students were incredibly fortunate to work with visiting soloist Bella Hristova (USA), covering a vast range of technical topics as a group before an open discussion and Q&A where Bella generously shared her experience and stories from her career. Our piano department closed out the first day, with a masterclass from Stephen De Pledge (UoA School of Music) running late into the night.
The Masterclass Festival will continue at the Chiron Rock School tomorrow with a teacher training session from Andrea Yun (USA) and a violin workshop led by Stephen Larsen. All sessions are open to the public – and Chiron parents attending for free – so come join us!
