Svetlana Pilchena is a violinist, teacher, and author of several books for young violinists and their parents. She was born in Ukraine and graduated from the Odesa Conservatory. She began working as a violin teacher in 1987 and played in the Odesa National Opera and Ballet Theatre and the Symphony Orchestra of the Odesa Philharmonic until 1991.
In 1991, Svetlana moved to Germany and worked as a violinist for four years. After returning to Ukraine, she continued her musical career. In 2002, she relocated to Moscow and worked for the Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation. She also taught music in various Moscow music schools, holding positions such as the head of the studying department at the Central Music School affiliated with the Moscow Conservatory (2002-2009), deputy director of the Moscow Taneev School (2009-2012), and head of the string department at the Alexandrov Music School (2012-2023).
She has also authored and hosted a musical concert series for children called "Journey to the World of Music" at the Moscow Slobodkin Centre. From 2006 until now, Svetlana has been the Vice-President of the International Music Project Gilels-Kogan. She is a co-founder and artistic director of the International Music and Art Competition for Youth "Munich Meetings" (Germany, 2022).
Svetlana is a jury member of Pulsar Global Music Competitions, Canada (since 2019), Munich Meetings, Germany (since 2022), and Gold Strings, Russia (since 2021), and she was invited twice as a jury member to the Oskar Rieding Violin Competition, Slovenia (2019, 2020).
Her students are winners of various international competitions, including multiple first-prize winners at the Rocky Mountain Music Competition (Calgary, Canada), the Oskar Rieding International Competition (Celje, Slovenia), Grand-Prix at the World Music Art Helsinki-Silver Palm and also the first prize in the prestigious Jugend Musiziert Competition in Germany. Her students have also become prizewinners of the Kocian Violin Competition (Czech Republic).
Svetlana is the author of several published works, such as the book "Talented Parents of Talented Violinists" (2018) and a student's book for beginners titled "My Little Violin" (2022). "Talented Parents of Talented Violinists" received numerous positive reviews, including from professors at conservatories and universities. In particular, the renowned Russian violinist Viktor Tretyakov has written a very positive review about it.
