Side-by-Side with the APO

Advanced students from Chiron Music Academy’s String and Woodwind departments participated in a one-day holiday programme – ‘Side-by-Side’ – with Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra musicians during the October School Holidays.

Students, who had prepared their parts in sectionals with Chiron tutors, took part in a packed day of rehearsal – working through each movement of Haydn’s “Miracle” Symphony No. 96 with conductor Leonard Weiss in detail – before a final performance for parents.

This invaluable experience of working and playing as part of a full orchestra of professionals is one which we are sure will stay with our students for a long time.
