Esther Wu
Piano • Music Teacher
Esther Wu completed her Bachelor of Music degree at The University of Auckland. She studied piano with legendary pedagogues including Richard Liu, Rae de Lisle, Stephen De Pledge, Rachel Fuller, and David Guerin, and conducting with the matchless Karen Grylls. She began learning the piano at the age of six after hearing, sobbing, and concurrently interpretive dancing to Beethoven’s Pathétique Sonata. Musicking has since been a vital part in the way Esther engages with and gives back to her community.
She has taught the cello and the piano at Remuera Music School for six years, accompanied choirs and instrumental music exams, directed the String Ensemble at Epsom Girls’ Grammar School, appeared as a guest conductor for the Devonport Chamber Orchestra, conducted the Howick & Botany Everybody Sings choir, and has also performed the Grieg Piano Concerto with the Auckland Symphony Orchestra in a packed Auckland Town Hall. Most recently, she has won the University of Auckland School of Music Concerto Competition.
This year, Esther embarks on a new adventure studying medicine at The University of Auckland and hopes to continue imparting her love for music and the piano.
